Welcome to The North London Breast Screening Service

The North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS) is part of the National Breast Screening Programme and is one of the largest breast screening services in England. NLBSS provides a free breast screening service for women aged between 50 and 70, resident within Barnet, Brent, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow and West Hertfordshire.

From June 2011, we will be taking part in a pilot where we are extending the age range of those invited to include some women aged 47 to 49 years and some aged 71 to 73 years. We aim to provide and promote an efficient and effective, high quality breast screening service, to all eligible women within a caring environment.

Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. To do this, an x-ray is taken of each breast (mammogram). Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment.

Invitation for Breast Screening

The North London Breast Screening Service invites over 55,000 women per year for screening. Screening is organised according to your GP practice. Once every three years your GP practice will be contacted and all eligible women will be invited.
